Dear Harrison,
On Saturday morning, I took you out on the sidewalk for the first time with your new scooter & you took off like a shot, so brave & indepedent.
Later that night, after bedtime story & prayers, I stayed by your little bed & asked if you wanted me to sing. You whispered “yes” & I ran my fingers over your cheek & left ear while I sang Baby Mine. You tell me that’s our song & I nod with a lump in my throat that yes, it is our song. You smiled sleepily & I told you to close your eyes & for long moments while you slept, I sat & watched you.
Some days I still can’t believe you’re mine.
This morning while I drove with coffee in hand, you held onto Hank the Giraffe & asked to hold hands. I reached behind me to your seat & your little hand found mine for the next four miles.
You’re still my baby & I love you, I love you, I love you.
Love,
Momma
